The EBRD in 2009 (2010)

In 2009 the Bank's investments increased by 55 per cent compared to the previous year. Supporting crisis-hit sectors such as financial and corporate sectors, infrastructure and sustainable energy remain high on the EBRD's 2010 investment agenda.

The EBRD and Sweden (2009)

Sweden is a founding member of the EBRD. Through the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency, Sweden provides aid to EBRD investments from central Europe to central Asia.

Supporting female entrepreneurs (2009)

The EBRD promotes the economic empowerment of women from central Europe to central Asia through investments in agribusiness, infrastructure and microfinance among many other sectors. Learn more about EBRD projects.

EBRD and donors - a lasting partnership (2009)

Together with donors, the EBRD invests to improve people's lives from central Europe to central Asia. Most of the funding provided by donors is used for technical assistance to prepare projects.

Sustainable Energy Initiative (2009)

The Sustainable Energy Initiative is the EBRD's structured approach to scaling up financing for climate change related investments. The Initiative was launched in 2006 and has invested €2.7 billion in 166 sustainable energy projects from central Europe to central Asia.

Financing safer roads (2008)

Bad road conditions are a major cause for road crashes in the EBRD region. Since 1991, the EBRD has invested €2.7 billion in 51 safer road projects in 21 countries from Central Asia to the Western Balkans.

The EBRD record - local currency financing (2008)

Local currency financing is integral to the EBRD's mission to stimulate and encourage the development of capital markets. Since 1994, the EBRD has lent in eight local currencies, helped to establish transparent Money Market Indices and improve legislation and regulation on capital markets in its countries of operations.

EBRD investment in agribusiness (2008)

Since 1991, the EBRD has invested over €30 billion in 1,500 agribusiness projects from central Europe to central Asia. View the photo story to learn more.

Agribusiness - Russia and the EBRD (2008)

In Russia, the EBRD is the second largest private investor in agribusiness with €1.4 billion invested in 50 projects with local and foreign companies. EBRD in Turkey (2008)  Turkish

Within the EBRD region, Turkey represents the second largest economy and of crucial importance for the countries in the Balkans, Caucasus and Central Asia. In Turkey, the EBRD will support the development of agribusiness, small businesses and invest in energy efficiency.

Western Balkans Fund (2008)

The multi-donor Western Balkans Fund mobilises and coordinates donor funding for the region. The EBRD established the Fund in November 2006 with strong support from the international donor community.

Early Transition Countries Fund (2008)

The EBRD's multi-donor fund for the Early Transition Countries (ETC) addresses the needs of those countries of operations which have lagged behind the rest of the region in their transition to market economies.

Environment matters (2008)

The EBRD has taken the lead in demonstrating that what is good for the environment is also good for business, by integrating sustainability into all investments with partners. Projects featured in this slideshow are just a few examples of the EBRD's continued commitment to advancing growth in the transition region in an environmentally and socially responsible way.

Returning to Kiev (2008)

The EBRD's 2008 Annual Meeting took place in Kiev, Ukraine. Energy, agriculture and infrastructure were key themes for discussion.

EBRD and Donors: Building foundations (2007)

From south east Europe through Russia and central Asia, the EBRD and its donor partners are building foundations for better lives by investing to improve broken-down infrastructure, taking risks in microfinance, and tackling climate change.
